This Years Texas Legislature Failed Us

I am ashamed of how this years elected Texas representatives have chosen to put their re-election ahead of the good of Texas Voters. Are they afraid they wouldn't get re-elected if the voters in their district had to prove they were eligible to vote? This is a great example of the reason our government is such a failure. If a person had nothing to hide than they wouldn't mind showing an ID. If our voting system cannot be protected from fraud then money buys the elections. Jesse

Nichols sells out Texans to continue the Trans Texas Corridor!

Senator Robert Nichols brokered a backroom deal with the same lobbyist TxDOT illegally hired using our taxpayer money, Gary Bushell, to sell out Texans in favor of a Spanish company, ACS. The dirty deal allows the private toll contract called a CDA awarded to ACS for TTC-69 to move forward DESPITE the unanimous House vote to repeal of the Trans Texas Corridor (or TTC) and the 28,000 Texans who went on the record to oppose the project.

Note they're going to have the TTC proceed through Nichols' bill, SB 17, NOT through the TTC chapter of the code itself, which has been repealed in the TxDOT sunset bill, HB 300. To truly KILL the TTC, we MUST KILL CDAs. We understand the Governor is using eminent domain reform as a bargaining chip to get CDAs passed. NO DEAL! NO WAY!

The private developer, ACS, confirms in a news release that this CDA is for a 621 mile corridor through East Texas. This isn't about upgrading some highways to an interstate, I-69, in the valley, as our politicians would have us believe. This is the WHOLE ENCHILADA, the entire TTC-69 corridor is back on the table (and parts of TTC-35), and it will put our infrastructure under the control of foreign companies for a half century at a time!

Ripoff Scam In Tomball

I was just approached by a man in the Walgreen's parking lot in Tomball. He had this Epic Surround System that they(?) had double shipped to him. He show all the paper work and show the price as $3295.00 and went down to $150.00. The truck was a new Chevy with Parkway temporary plates. Black in color. He spoke with a heavy New York accent. I was very tempted but when it's to good to be true.....you know the rest. I came home and searched the internet and found the same scam has taken place all over the country. Have you heard of Tomball, Texas? We are located about 29 miles northwest of Houston. I am Jesse C Smith Jr, a 63 year old resident for 30 plus years.. I perform with the Band, Jesse Smith and the LoneStar Cowboys and was the managing partner of The Frontier Palace nightclub from 1979 through 1982 until the 30 house subdivision my partner built didn't sell. Chalk that up to a good experience as how you build,operate and bankrupt a successful night club and to separate all businesses ventures from each other in my future.
I have seen many changes take place here in Tomball. Some of the merchants I recommend I have known since I moved here in 1979. We came online 08/02/2007 1:36am

One of my sad observations was when the 100 year old oak tree was cut down on the four corners to build a gas station to allow us years later to have no landmark tree and to end up with matching shell stations on each side of the road. Now it seems like the city will kill the live oak trees on main street to repair the sidewalks. Can our leaders drive to Austin and see the round grates around their trees that let them live as they have for decades? The Tomball city web site is, www.ci.tomball.tx.us Email them if you want.
